Solubility, Particle Theory, and Fractions YAY

Last Week In Math We:

  • Multiplied a proper fraction by a whole number (6.1) (pictures, number lines, calculations)
  • Divided a proper fraction by a whole number (keep, change, flip)
  • 6.1 is due Monday.
  • Mathletics - you were assigned some modules to work on
Last Week In Science We:

  • Completed our fill in the blank notes, questions, and activities up to and including section 2.4 the Particle Theory of Matter
  • Did a Lab on SATURATION POINTS AND SOLUBILITY.  Did you answer all the questions and complete the lab report?
  • How about a bar graph to go with your lab?

You also got a list of Visual Journal Prompts to help you complete and keep your visual journal up to date.

UP NEXT:  More division, fractions, and viscosity, density, buoyancy and more!

Matter, Solubility, and Fractions - Oh My!

This week in Math we

  • reviewed addition and subtraction of fractions
  • multiplied fractions together, (numerically and pictorially)
  • reviewed division with fractions (keep, change, flip, multiply)
  • did some practice - multiplication practice booklet (DUE MONDAY)

This week in Science we
finished up and handed in our fill in the blank notes, questions and activities about

  1. Fluids (1.2)
  2. Pure Substances and Mixtures (2.1)
  3. Concentration and Solubility (2.2)
  4. Factors Affecting Solubility (2.3)
  5. The Particle Model of Matter and the Behaviour of Mixtures (2.4) (DUE MONDAY)

  • Visual Journal Prompt about Comparing Solutions should be in your Journal and complete.
  • Changed the Coca Cola in our nail experiment.......what have you observed about the nail?
  • Looked at our Bread.  What is happening with it?  What should we change?

Coming Up

  • multiplication and division of fractions with number lines and more manipulatives
  • lab activity on solubility
  • Solubility worksheet #1 & #2
  • Journal Prompt on factors that affect solubility and the rate of solubility
  • Viscosity
Reminders
  • You've had class time to work on all of the above activities.  If you're not done, or feel lost, please reflect on why and how we can support you.
  • Please see me for help or support if you need it!
  • All of your textbooks (Math, Science & Humanitites) are available electronically on Brightspace by D2L, LINK -  https://d2l.cbe.ab.ca/d2l/loginh/
